Well, this was probably one of the most fun shoots I’ll ever have! Palais Royal is absolutely incredible and is known for being a major center for the most fashionable Parisians to be seen. It was fun to pretend like I was one of them for an hour.
I styled this look based off of Parisian style. They’re always wearing three pieces, so that’s why I’m wearing this blazer! It elevates the look of this outfit, but the longer blazer still allows the outfit to maintain a casual air. I have seen many a French woman riding her bike to work in outfits similar to this, and now that I’ve worn it I totally get the appeal! This outfit, albeit very chic, is incredibly functional and comfortable. It can also go from day to night with maybe just a change in shoes! Feeling comfortable yet stylish in what you’re wearing is inherently French. After being here for five weeks, I’m really starting to realize how beautiful this fashion philosophy is.
We most definitely have Coco Chanel to thank for this. I’m currently reading The Allure of Chanel by Paul Morand, and it has taught me so much about hard work, fashion, and building success. I highly recommend the read.
I will leave you with this quote from the book that epitomizes how Chanel changed fashion for the better by emphasizing comfort over replicating the trends of the time:
“Aesthetically pleasing appearance is never anything but the outer expression of moral honesty, of authentic feelings.”
– Coco Chanel
