Walking down the aisles of makeup at Target can be overwhelming, and I know it’s always hard for me to know what products are worth it! But I have done the testing for you and today’s post is about the tried and true lip stain formulas I’ve been using over the past month or two. And I’m sharing the shades that I have loved for staples this season.
1. Revlon Ultra HD Matte (featured here in Kisses and Addiction): Hurry and go grab one of these lip stains! The color lasts for a good 5 hours and the pigment is really strong. It also smells amazing which always an added plus. This matte formula goes on smoothly and doesn’t ever leave your lips feeling dried out or crusty. I would rate this as a 5 out of 5!
2. NYX Matte Lip Creme (featured in Abu Dhabi and Monte Carlo): This lip creme has been a staple in my lipstick wardrobe for about 3 years. I discovered it because of the color Copenhagen my freshman year of college! If you’re looking for a bold, deep plum color then that shade should be your drugstore go-to! I most recently found out about Abu Dhabi from a friend, and I have worn it as an everyday color this season. It reminds me of a Tom Ford color I LOVE called, ‘Colin.’ The pigment is strong in this line as well and there is such a great collection of colors available. The formula is almost whipped and goes on very creamy and then dries matte. Your lips will get more dry with this formula and I would say the color will end up needing to be reapplied more often. But it still gets a 4 out of 5 from me! It’s a trusted formula!
3. L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss: I randomly picked this matte gloss up at Target and have worn it so much since! I picked up the shade, ‘Statement Nude,’ and the pigment is so strong! It’s on that “my lips but better” color level. In this line, there were a bunch of really good color options more on the neutral side. I’m interested in picking another one up! My review for it is that there’s a wide selection of colors, a glossy finish – not a drying matte, and that you will have to reapply! It’s staypower isn’t the best so that’s why I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5!
