A reader recently asked me what outfit I’d wear to a weekend brunch when I’m not feeling like getting all dressed up or when it’s a super casual brunch and you just want to wear a ball cap. But how to make a ball cap outfit cute is the question, right? When most people think about a brunch outfit, they might be thinking of something relatively fancy or not something as casual as this look.
I thought this was such a great outfit request because this actually happens to me often. I’ll need to be somewhere where I need to look cute, but I don’t have a ton of time to put together a super elaborate outfit. That’s why I think this weekend brunch outfit balances out a casual look with some styled elements!
Keep things tailored but still lightweight with a loose, linen boyfriend tunic and a classic crossbody bag (my bag is the Louis Vuitton Favorite PM in Damier Ebene!). Throw on a pair of slide-on sandals (under $60!); they’re so comfortable and easy to throw on on your way out the door. Pick them in a neutral or classic leather color, so that you can wear them when you’re running errands or with lots of other casual outfits.
Add in the ball cap to add a fun sporty edge to your outfit that balances out the more tailored silhouette of the shirt! I love to wear a crop flare jean for an elevated casual look because the fit is on trend but the distressing makes it easy to wear with lots of different pieces.
