I have something to confess. Now, you know how much I love clothes, but there are just those pieces that can give you a lot of grief. And for me that’s jean shorts…or really shorts in general. Every summer I come to the conclusion that I HATE SHORTS. I’m fair and don’t spend that much time in the sun (becoming a more regular self-tanner though!), so I hate to expose my pale legs. And as a girl with a booty, I always find it hard to get a pair that offers enough coverage without looking too much like bermuda shorts. Anyone feel the same way?
I tried Levi’s shorts which ended with a thumbs down. I tried another pair that just wasn’t the right fit in the thigh. And I don’t know why it took me so long to go to my holy grail for denim: Madewell. They seriously never let me down. If I wasn’t a full-blown Madewell lover before, I am completely converted now (not sponsored, I am just a huge fan). I read tons of reviews on these shorts on the website, but I knew I was tired of ordering, trying, and returning via mail. Despite my fears, I braved the dressing room and tried these babies on.
First off, they give my butt some good lift (very important) and are just the right length for good coverage without being a la cult-length jorts. You CAN have it all! The fit around the thigh isn’t too tight or squeezing and leaves enough space for a really flattering fit. I tried on both the 28 and the 29 to see how I liked the fit true to size and a little bigger. My mom was there with me and since she knows me better than I know myself (#mamasgirl), she recommended I buy a pair in each size. I didn’t realize how much sense that made at first, but not every day is a great day and I’m not always going to feel 100% comfortable in the 28. So on days when I’m feeling bloated or wanting a looser fit, I’ll throw on the 29. Mom’s a genius. This is a smart plan for my girls that share in my fear/anxiety around wearing shorts in the summer!
