Whether the Texas temperatures want to believe it or not, fall has arrived and so have fall trends. My birthday is in September, so I’m an autumn baby and my need for fall temps, fall colors, fall textures affects me on a molecular level. Not to mention that I’m bombarded with inspiration left and right with NYFW 2017 going down right now. I just had to share the newest fall trends that I’m loving and that I actually think I can add into my wardrobe (and so can you!).
You’ll find pieces below that you can shop to start making your fall wardrobe the hottest it’s ever been!
(Pssst, don’t want to lose this list of fall trends and outfit inspo? Pin the pic below and you won’t have to!)
Ruffles are making an appearance everywhere this fall season and you can find them on dresses, blouses, even on sweatshirts (ew to that, though). What I love most about the ruffle trend is that it can be dressed up and down easily and it’ll flow seamlessly from season to season.

Pair a ruffle sleeve sweater with an a-line mini skirt and booties for a ruffled weekend casual look. Want to wear ruffles but not be too girly? Then pair a ruffle blouse with jeans and sneakers or a ruffle hem dress with a studded bootie.
Pride and Prejudice called and Jane Austen wants her collars back. Sorry, Jane, I can’t come to the phone right now. High Victorian collars are here to stay this fall. This might just be one of the fall trends that I’m most excited about. A statement collar takes your outfit to an ultra chic level and beyond and I’m not complaining one bit.
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”2810413″] How to wear it: Let a high collar blouse do the talking and pair it with classic tailored pieces like a fitted trouser legging and a velvet slide. A high collar can also be a fall trend to bring into your office style because it’s conservative and professional while still elevating your look for the fall season.
Florals for fall? Actually groundbreaking. And this season the florals are just as moody as Miranda Priestly herself. Think romantic floral tapestries or shiny brocade florals that you might see in a museum or medieval castle. You’ll be seeing very rich, cool tones like deep purples, charcoal grays, and dark magenta pinks instead of your standard mustard or brown hues.
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”2810435″] How to wear it: Of all of these fall trends, florals are always going to be an easy way to add interest to your outfits. If you want to be an over-achiever and kill two trends with one stone, go for a high-collared (maybe even with a tie-neck?) floral blouse and tuck it into a pair of dark vintage wash high-waisted jeans; top it off with a kitten heel to really seal the deal.
Cue the Taylor Swift song immediately. (Oh sorry, the *old* Taylor song…) Red is, no joke, the red hot trend for fall. Usually I gravitate towards bordeaux or burgundy hues every autumn, but this season we’re talking candy apple and cherry reds. As an addict to neutrals, I usually veer away from any colors that aren’t somewhat reminiscent of the earth or dirt, but red is such a classic color that it’s probably the easiest color to incorporate into your neutral fall wardrobe. I got this bag as a Christmas present last year and you better believe that I’m toting it around nonstop now that red is THE fall color. See how I styled my red bag here![show_shopthepost_widget id=”2810461″] How to wear it: Other than red nails or red lips (read how to apply a bold lip here), think about pairing some red pumps with your favorite blue skinny jeans for casual Friday at the office. And if you’re not ready for an all red ensemble, go for red accents like a track pant with a red stripe down the leg – this will have a slimming effect on your legs and keep your outfit on trend.
CHECKS & PLAIDS:
Not only are plaids and checks hot on the fall trend menu but so are pant suits. Keep it business professional this season with plaid trousers and perhaps a double breasted checked blazer. One of my all-time favorite bloggers to follow has been wearing this plaid blazer nonstop and I seriously can’t get enough. This trend is pretty much like introducing a new neutral into your wardrobe, so feel free to style it with everything from your go-to shirt dress or a lace cami for a nighttime look.
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”2810451″] How to wear it: Just like I mentioned above, I wore a lace cami under my Zara checked blazer last weekend, and I knew right away that it was an outfit I’d be repeating (check it out here). Add in a pair of black distressed skinnies and a suede block heel sandal to keep things classic with a cool-girl vibe.
